Oh, #5 looks like it was chewed by a bug, maybe a beetle or weevil? The black part of the new growth looks like rot, but doesn't look like it will spread... that growth, if it lives, will not bloom or mature correctly. I think the largest growth in the pot will send out another growth, if you give it more water... try keeping it in a tray with small pebbles, and water it in the sink once in a while until you see some progress... Keep posting pics so we all can help you!

NOt easy in an apartment...
They all had blooms when i first got them except for #5 i gma said they are very pretty so hopefully will be able to revive it and see for myself.

It looks to me like most are in pots that are way too big for the plant, especially 2,4 and 1. You want to have them in as small a pot as possible; judge the pot size to the root ball.

Great wisdom Pat ... they do surprise you when you least expect it. I as well repotted my first dend way to soon, picking the habit of my green thumb with the normal house plants. Orchids are in a group of caring all of their own and if you put yourself where they came from, they never had much attention.

Suggestively, water them every 7-10 days, once a month thorough watering, soaking, and bi-weekly fert. Follow the instructions on the fert and cut in 1/2, weak solution is better than over doing the fert.

Take this experience and buy new orchids and basically start over. What I do is when I am not sure what type of legend my chids need I goggle ie... dendrobium culture sheets and you can come up with an enormous amount of information.

Ortho is a great book, my first and I rely on it regularly, as well as "Orchids for dummies" .

Thanks all for the supportive words. After all the holiday chaos and upping the Xmas tree i plan on repotting the babes in cmaller pots and trying to help them improve
I will try and find another one to start from fresh and see if proper care can help me improve the ones i do have

Still trying to figure out what to do with #5 (now #4 since # was a goner) Any suggestions on how to save it from what ailment has taken on that one portion of the bulb?
