Default HELP - transferring brassia orchid

i bought a brassia in plastic pot. It was good thing that i bought it coz its rare in our country to have brassia, second i haggled it! ok... so i chose the best one. with a young plant ready to mature. i place it in my patio. and as soon as it start growing the brassia seems to be not growing upright instead it grows downward. i found out that the new growth is growing almost outside (at the edge) of the pot. Roots are already formed and i already tied the young brassia now. Im planning to repot because i cant ease myself! so im asking a favor if anyone here could tell me when should i repot? im pretty sure repotting now is not the best option because i might give the plant a shock if i let it stay that way the next new young ones will grow outside the pot. Should i wait for another new growth to shoot off (without roots visible) then quickly transfer it in another pot. Thanks very much help if u guys could help me.

I would say that the safest time to repot is when the plant is in active growth, just forming new roots. However, you should also take into account the condition of the current potting medium.

If it is old and starting to break down, repot it now. That may "stall" it for a little while, but it beats losing the whole thing.

Repotting---some of the growers say to repot as soon as you purchase an orchid. If it's actively growing you may want to repot it soon.

I agree with Ray and I would wait until new growth begins again. Since the roots are outside the pot, the media doesn't come into play.
