Default how do dendrobium phalaenopsis flower?

hello. after so much helpful info i decided to look over my orchids and wondered how do dendrobium phalaenopsis bloom. do they respike from previously bloomed growths or only from new growths and what do new spikes look like.

they spike from mature canes, sometimes from canes that have already spiked, or have lost their leaves. check this thread for an example of a dendrobium spike.

Oncidium spiking starts at the bottom, on the sides of the bulbs, down where the medium and plant meet.

sorry, i can't get any clear pictures of mine.

the spike forms at the base of the pseudobulb, usually between a basal leaf and the pseudobulb. it's the same place new pseudobulbs start to form, sometimes it can be difficult to tell them apart. spikes are more round, pseudobulbs start out pretty flat.

These Dends will flower from a matured new growth and generally from direct out of the top of the cane. Old canes flower from the nodes that are each side of the cane opposite each leaf. They will flower from leafless canes but they are usually poor spikes.
