Default New phalenopsis rescued :) Advice about care?

[FONT="Georgia"]Hey there,
I just brought home a phal that has two burned leaves, one of which was cut to a point at the end. It needs water and love but I wondered if anyone could give me some good advice about helping him rebound faster. Also, in general, do dendrobiums prefer a different watering method than phals? I tend to mist everyone everyday... but I'm beginnng to think that the dendrobiums need to dry out a bit more. Maybe this is why my mom's dend did poorly. Also... when do you give up on a dendrobium? I have one that has "hollow" canes but still seems to have life left in the roots... any ideas?
Thanks-

can you post a pic of the phal?
dendrobiums like way more light than phals and less water.

it looks like it has good roots. keep the clear pot but repot in bark that you have soaked for a few hours. water when the moisture droplets inside the pot go away and the roots turn white.
also, look at this thread.

Great, I'll do that. I have all of my other phals in clay pots and I mist them daily. Should I be doing something different? I thought I'd heard that they are happier in clay but I could be mistaken. Also, I never soak them or even emmerse them in water. Maybe I should... Thanks for the advice!
