Earlier, I posted about terra cotta orchid pots that had really tall slits, instead of short ones. Lots of great responses informed me that they were azalea or bulb pots. Jerry responded and directed me to a vendor in ohio that had them. Their picture at orchidmix.com showed pictures of such pots. After being in contact with the orchidmix.com people they inform me that they need to retake their picture because they cant get them anymore! They wish they can! Where are these pots! Do I have to get a wet saw and cut my own slits! HELP!!
Wow! Sorry to hear that. Just a question but do you have poor air flow and that's why you want large slits?
B/c I buy the ones from Home Depot and they work fine.
There are many ways to skin a cat, and in this case, to grow orchids.
Under certain conditions, a medium that holds water works better for a grower, but they need to provide better air flow - hence the slits. For others, they have conditions and a medium that don't need the added air access.
By the way, before you cut slits yourself, soak the pots overnight in water.
