Did I ruin my new phal root? Female
Default Did I ruin my new phal root?

Last week I had to repot my phal due to a scale problem. There is a new root growing out of the base of the leaves, and I accidentally scraped some of the fleshy tip of the root off while I was cleaning the plant. Now the root seems like it's drying up and not getting any larger. There is no other new growth to be seen now. Is this something to be concerned about?

Is the location exactly the same as where it was before? Sometimes they just stop growing roots because they are re-aclimatizing to another environment. The amount of root damaged you have described should have negligable effect on the overall health of your plant.

Alanna, I would hope it branches from the growing tip.

Question, when repotted, how was the rest of the root system? was it plenty to carry on the plant?

Yes, there is a good-sized root system in place. One of the other roots is still growing quite well, and I hope the ones that aren't visible are growing as well.

Well in that case Allana, it is nothing to be concerned about, the root itself might have stopped growing, but it did not affect the overall growth cycle on your Phal so it will be ok.
