This is the phal I rescued from certain death - it was abandoned outside and was drying up from neglect. It's leaves are still a bit yellowish, but they look much perkier now. I trimmed off the dried up spike, and a couple of days later, this new tip of a leaf appeared!
Yep! That is how it starts - look out........
You will soon realize that you CANNOT rescue them all. You will get more selective as your available space disappears..........
Sometimes it takes a bit of work and sometimes it's easy but always satisfying. I recently had a bad rotting problem and I'm coming out of it with the help of a lot of friends here at Orchid board. I lost only one and one that's looking bad is touch and go but that's not too bad for having about fifteen infected plants. I did a lot of repotting along with cutting dead and dying stuff, using cinnamon as well as Thiomyl and Physan. It's almost like when my kids got sick. Who thought at my age I would have to care for babies? Glad to see you've taken the first step. Good save.
