I didn't realise, until I read it here, that some Phals have a tendency to branch their flower stems.
One of the two I bought in April has a flower stem which is just starting to produce buds. This morning I've noticed that, of the nodes at the top which I thought were producing buds, the lowest is actually growing a spike branch instead.
One of the two had a branched stem when I bought it... now I can't remember which is which (they are NOIDs anyway). It will be interesting when if flowers to see if it's the same one that had branches back in April.
