Introductions-Break The Ice
Hi this is my first post. I have a few more orchids but I'll start with my Dendrobium
I have a Dendrobium that had four keikis, I've loosened and planted the four keikis in small see through pots with orchid earth. I don't know the real name of the Dendrobium , one of the keikis died so now i have three in pots and one small one still on the mother plant, You can see my dendrobium in my gallery
PS. I wrote Adenium but it is a Dendrobium, i'm going to try up loading picturs of my keikis too this evening / Reiola59
I uploaded a picture of my three keikis just a couple of minutes ago. see my Galery
I see now that mother plant will boom in the next three weeks

Hi Reiola,
Welcome to the OB.
Your dendrobium looks healthy to me...nice green leaves and new roots growing. Has it grown any new growths from the crown, or is it just sending out keikis along the old canes? I believe that this means something with respect to the health of the plant, but someone else more adept at growing dendrobiums will have to provide additional info on this.
Take care, and I look forward to addition pics and posts from you.

"Hi to you too" I asked a Florist in Västerås (my town ) about my Dendronbium and they told me that the mother plant after the keikis had been taken from it it would die and that keikis i planted would grow and flower and the the procees would go on. I thought that sounded a bit queer but what I did I know and now I want to find out. Thanks and take care you too

Hi again David, I found out that I should put some sphagnum moss around the roots of the keikis and fill the pot then with Orchid earth which I now have done, We'll see after a while. The mother plant looks like it would flower again or else it is growing another keikis ??
I'll let you know in a while. Best regards /Reijo

Hi
The folks that told you the mother plant is going to die after giving off the keikis doesn't know what they're talking about!
I have many Dens, and a number of them produce keikis along the canes...and the mother plants just keep getting bigger and bigger.
Just care for the mother plant the way you should and when the keikis have long enough roots you can carefully remove them and have yourself more plants!

Reiola,
Keikis are good, but blooms are better...I hope that you have another bloom spike coming along!
