That's an amazing story. Most people think that orchids are delicate and difficult plants. These guys are much tougher than most people give them credit for and will do anything to live, as your heart warming rescue shows. Next time I have a orchid in really bad shape, I will think twice before writing it off as a goner!

Oh gosh!!!! You have made my day!!!

I have a Phal and a Paph that both lost their leaves...due to my occasional laziness in not getting rid of any water that might have gotten into their crowns ...but when I went to pull the plant out of the pot for the trashheap, I found that the roots on both are really in great shape! So, the experiment started

I'm still caring for these two hoping against hope that "something" might happen, thinking "what a waste of my time!"

Now I feel better and it's all thanks to you and this fantastic thread!

Still not sure anything will come of either of them but now I don't feel like I'm wasting my energy with these two
