Bring Back My Blooms - Orchid Board

My Thumb is fairly green, however, my Orchid experience is on E.

I have two orchids, the leaves are healthy, however, the blooms fell off about a year ago. How can I bring them back? should I trim the stalks? I have enclosed an image that resembles both of them. Unfortunately I do not know for sure, I am sorry for that.

You should mention you have Paphiopedilum, or Lady's slippers. More specialized growers could help you.

is correct, yes after blooming cut paph stalks back (at least I do, just my

Sometimes with paph's they like to bloom annually no sooner but sometimes later. It really depends on your conditions. If the lighting is not to there liking your blooms will be few and far between. If you can give us an idea of your conditions we will be able to help a bit more.

I agree. Paphs stalks should be cut off. You probably noticed the blooms just turned brown and fell off in a couple days. At this point just cut off the stalk. It won't bloom again from the dead stalk. Hope this helps.

Your right it does not rebloom again on the adult plant but it should grow a newbie and with that you will should have a new bloom at some point.

How prompt and helpful. Can you all change careers and become tech and product support?

Anyway, I had them, initially in indirect morning sunlight, watering them sparingly (semi close to what the care tag recommended). Then after about six months, I brought them to work where there are florescents and some window sun.

Bonsai1504 was kind enough to attach a care sheet for me, I will dive into that now. I apologize for my extreme ignorance, I feel for all the Orchids that meet their demise getting purchased at Dominick's (Chicago Land grocery store).

I have attached a present picture of my orchids.

Your paphs look pretty good to me. I second the cutting off the stems as close to the crown of the plant as possible. Repotting is also probably a good idea. Remember too that these guys can take a lot more water than most other orchids, and don't forget to feed them, lightly, but regularly. Keep us posted, and happy growing.
