Is it Lava Burst 'Puanani' or Puanani 'Lava Burst'? I've seen it both ways. The tag that came with mine had it the second way. BTW, I've heard that increased light improves the bloom color. I have mine in a somewhat protected west window, shaded in summer. It doesn't seem to have the same intensity as it did when I bought it. This may be because it was on the verge of dying and thought it was putting out one last great show. Should I give it more light? As far as potting medium, I have mine in a mix of small gravel, sphagnum, and fine fir bark, to accomodate 3 cryptanthes growing with it. It has doubled in blooms from last year and in the size of the individual growths, although because it had to recover so much, that's still only about 12 flowers. Hope to get more per spike in coming years!
