I currently have 59 different kinds of orchids - some of these are seedlings in community pots/flats, so I have more individual orchids than that. The most orchids I've ever bought in one go is 15 over the internet. I also came back with about 15 from a holiday shopping spree in the Western Cape.

It took many years to finally grasp quality as opposed to quantity. I now will spend for one what I use to spend for ten. But with that being said...I still can come home with way too much;-)

How big is your orchid space? Do you have set days for each group for watering, etc? Man, how do you do it?

wow, I don't know those of you with such a large selection put your orchids. Youur greenhouses/orchidariums must be beautiful. How do you stay on top of watering, checking for dieases, etc. Do you divide the areas into groups or what? I'm not that organized. Amazing.

I have about 30 (Maybe less)--on bread racks in the sunroom. Few dend, phals, catts, tolumnias.
I mist daily, water weekly, weak fertilizer. Except the Tolumnias--they get watered more frequently.
It takes me a bit to water everybody, check for diseases, etc. From the forum, I have learned that some of my pots are too big, so I am repotting those into smaller pots.
I enjoy working with my orchids--it is a huge destresser.

I'm up to about 78 that I still have. I keep track and I have purchased/acquired 94. And, I just ordered 3 more today from J&L- all Masdies. I am enchanted with them and they seem to do well for me. I'm not sure why I have such good luck with them except that I check them almost daily, rainwater at least 2x per week. I spend about 2 hours every Sat or Sunday watering/fertilizing all of them.

I have 38 total now. At first I just bought one or two at a time, then I went to an orchid show. That was my downfall. I left with 8 new babies. Then I started searching online for "different" looking ones and took my collection from a meager 18 to where it is now in one year. I think I'm going to slow down for a while though as I'm running out of places to put them, lol...

Wow, this is an old thread... Well I have 69 alive at the momment. I've bought about 80 in total.
If I'm buying online I tend to buy 2 or 3 at a time. If I'm at a show it's usually 7 or 8 because I just can't choose. Will have to be less, or tiny ones, for the next show as I have to catch the tube train to get there so it will be only what I can carry.
