Dumb And Dumber
I have seen at the tops of orchid pots a round brown item, (looks like a marble) Is this a medium to grow orchids, or is it plant food?
Still just learning......Thanks.....Faz

Hi Faz
Not dumb...or dumber
What you sometimes see is called LECA, which are expanded clay pellets. It comes in the form of aliflor, Prime Agra, Hydroton and probably others that I'm not aware of. It is generally used in semi-hydroponics but some of us use it as our regular potting medium.

quick question, does the aliflor hold up any better than regular potting medium? Is it worth the extra?
