HELP! Big black spot on leaf - Orchid Board

I don't know what kind of orchid I have. I am new to taking care of them. I noticed yesterday that there was a big black spot (size of a quarter) on it with what looks like tiny black raised spots in it. Maybe some kind of bug??? Too small to tell. I accidentally left it outside overnight & it did get some direct sun. I also water in the morning & never get the leaves wet. Thinking it was a bug I treated the leaf with a soap & water mix. Now the spot has doubled in size with a lot more tiny spots/bugs. How do I treat it? I almost want to cut the infected part off. Please help!

Hi Kaggy,

Can you post a picture for us? It would help us in assessing what it might be. Without seeing anything and just going by your description, I'm thinking you should be cutting out the infected area with a sterile instrument and sealing the "wound" edges with cinnamon.
