Default Phal in bloom

My Phal has been in bloom since Feb, I think. She has had around 24 blooms, still has 10 buds and now she has grown two more spikes with buds. Her old spike is about a 165cms long. I have to tie it up for support. She has five good leaves at the moment, had six when I bought her. She lost two. She was planted in coconut husk. A part of which had broken down and her roots had started to rot. Leaves turned yellow and dropped. I changed the husks and cut off the rotten roots. She grew a new leaf. Now do you think she will be able to take the stress of two more spikes? Wish I could post pics, but have not quite figured out how to .
LOL,
marilena

Hi marilena,
Are the "two new spikes" branches off the original spike or totally new, i.e., coming up from the base of the plant?

Hi
They're branches. Two other nodes on the old spike had turned green too, and it looked like something was happening there too. But now they appear to be dormant. So what do you think?
Marilena.

My feeling in such circumstances is that if the plant was strong enough to support the additional blossoms, so be it. If it was too weak, it never would have done so.

I agree with Ray. Let the two new branches come into bloom. On the other spike, cut it off just above the new growths. Apply a pinch of cinnamon powder to the cut.

Hope this all helps, if you have more questions, just ask.

Thanks guys! I was afraid I would have to terminate something. Such a relief I dont have to. Would have broken my heart!
Will try to post some pics. Hope I succeed. Not very good ones though. Too much light.
Love,
Marilena
