How. Lava Burst in bloom!
My mounted How. Lava Burst is bursting with blooms. I knew there were 3 spikes, but today as I was doing my weekly orchid regime, I found a 4th emerging from the back of the mount!

Hi Greg,
It beautiful...and with 4 spikes!
What is your secret with this guy? I have a plant about the same size, but with only one spike. Your growing technique is far better than mine, as evidenced by your multiple spikes. Way to go!

Nice one, Greg! That's such a pretty colour and looks so healthy. I'm afraid I've lost my own -- had it in Sphag and probably have overwatered so that's it's gradually rotted the pbs. Still working on it though!

Don't be embarrassed! You've done a great job!
It doesn't matter if you're new to orchids or not...when you're doing something right...we all want to know how you're doing it

You guys have done a wonderful job growing this little guy. It's one of my favorite chids.
My son had one. It was like the Energizer Bunny....seemed to always be in bloom. Alas it was lost in a greenhouse tragedy. I've been looking for it ever since.

I'm honored and a little embarrassed to be reciving such comments and questions since I'm so new to raising orchids...thanks!
P.S. It's not outside right now as Kay insisted it be brought indoors into the bay window!

Greg,
From what you've told me here, it seems I may be underwatering mine...and maybe giving it too much light. I water mine about every 2 or 3 days (no misting - day temps the same), and it is growing right along with my cattleyas in 50% sunlight in my shade house. I have been fertilizing the same as you, weekly, so at least I've got that piece in place.
I'll let you know how things turn out down the road.
