Thumbs up Orchids Alive

I have bought from a company called Orchids Alive. I have been very happy with them, they have a very good rating also.

I have bought one chid from e-bay. It arrived very healthy and have not had a problem one other than its size. It's chancy when buying sight unseen, ask the buyer choose per response, no response in my opinion is not worthy of the purchase. Take a stroll to our vender thread and read about other vendors, we have a few members here, littlefrog and Rays comes to mind, that have a nice variety to choose from and stand behind there plants, becareful and gl.

I have recently purchased about a fifty plants from three different sources in Hawaii: Exotic Orchids of Maui, Hawaiian Orchid Source and Eorchids. All arrived in perfect condition and included Cats in sheath or bud at very reasonable prices. I was very satisfied with everything. Big plants, cheap prices. Eorchids is also known as Mid Pacific Orchids. If you order, be sure to use the cold pack to prevent cold damage during delivery to your area.

I have purchased most of my chids from ebay. Many were seedlings, so I don't honestly know if they will turn out to be as advertised, but I have mostly been happy with what I have gotten. Kawamoto comes to mind as a very good seller. Usually get more than you expect from them. I have ordered from eorchids as well and they have been great plants. Been bit a couple of times, but I guess that comes with the territory.

Majority of my collection of almost 75 orchids (everything from catts to draculas) has come from eBay. I have never had an issue. I have a very select group of vendors that I purchase from and swear by them. Here on the east coast (NJ) there is no specialized orchid growers without ridiculous prices ... so I do most of my chid shopping online.

Shipping prices can be a little high, but for a great plant from a great seller ... it's worth every penny.

The first 4 orchids I bought on eBay were from a vendor with excellent evaluations. Technically, all orchids were "as described". In fact, half of them were overpotted (thus suggesting that the plants were bigger than they actually were).
My advice is to make sure that a plant in a 9cm pot is a plant that requires a 9cm pot (i.e. correctly potted), not an overpotted one, which would actually require a 5cm pot.

Very few will ship to Canada, but I have bought seedlings from Vanda diffusion in France. For what I paid, I was really happy with what I got. I have bought 5 orchids and all were alive, although shipping is slow so it was hard on some. It took 2 weeks to receive them.

I've also had plants ordered from ebay. The advice I would give would be order from vendors with very high feedback scores. Never order from a vendor that will not accept a return, NEVER order from a vendor who will not answer questions, and finally never order from a vendor who does not post pictures of the exact plant you will be getting.

I try to cultivate a relationship with good vendors and give them repeat business. I can highly recommend Abita Orchids. They sell mostly well established mounted orchids. Most will be relatively small, but healthy and as I said all are well established on their mounts before being sold, and shipping is always included in the price. I am in no way associated with this ebay vendor, but have ordered from him several times and will do so again.
Best,
Tony
