Can I repot my dendrobium while it's growing a new spike?

the thing is that if the seller told you to repot it then maybe he knew something that we don't , like its time to repot it, and will it hurt that brand new spike, I really doubt it

Just a thought, but it looks kinda like a keiki to me....at which point if you want to repot then you should be fine. If indeed it is a spike, I would not disturb the plant regardless of what the vendor said to you. I can't tell you how often a vendor has given me bad information regarding an orchid. I will agree with the fact that dens like to be root bound. The ones I have are much happier when they're left alone. Anytime I've had to repot, the plant pouts for a while and drops leaves. Just my

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply! Well, it looks like I'm in the same boat as last time I was debating to repot an orchid. Some were all for it and some were against! I hesitated to repot, and regretted it. Since the media does look like it may be deterioting some, and since I've been wanting to try potting a dend with LECA, I think I'm going to go ahead and repot. If it loses the spike, I'll be sad, but there is another cane that will probably produce a new spike as well.
