There is much color variation in
Acronia cardiothallis, in fact, I've even seen an orange and a f.
aurea form before
As for
Acronia, it is a mere segregation, or split, of the
Pleurothallis. The genus
Acronia comes from
Pleurothallis Section
Pleurothallis, Subsection
Acroniae and Subsection
Macrophyllae-Fasciculatae. These two subsections make up the genus
Acronia. Essentially,
Pleurothallis cardiothallis and
Acronia cardiothallis are the same exact plant, just Luer's treatment has split the genus.
The profile picture is of my
Epidendrum pseudonocturnum, a species described in 1993 from Esmeraldas, Ecuador. It's very similar to
Epidendrum nocturnum, though
