to repot or not to repot?

so...i have a fairly new phal, given to me as a gift. there was no information with it as far as last time it was repotted, fertilized, etc. i've been giving it orchid food once a week, about half what is suggested for every two weeks. anyway, my question is...
the blooms just died. should i repot the plant now or wait? if i do, any suggestions on what sort of pot to put in. i have kept it in the little one it came in, with the little standard green plastic thing most plants are in when you get them at a grocery store etc. i saw someone mention an orchid pot. what is this? where can i find it? is it necessary?
