Default Old post on Only Root Sphag n Bag

Hi guys! I am trying to find a post where the person was explaining how she sphagged n bagged just the root portion of the orchid, leaving the plant in the open air.

She wrapped the root in sphag and then with a paper towel and then used wire to close the paper towel "package".

I am trying this technique but I am not sure if I should continue to water the root that is wrapped in a paper towel. Won't the bottom of the plant rot bec it is smothered by the sphag and paper towel?

Should I just set the plant aside and not water it while the root paper towel is there? The sphag is damp now.

Thanks everyone for your help!!
