Too big of a pot?

I grow outdoors year round so my experience may be different but I find that over potting Onc.s and the like doesn't work well. I've had a couple experiences where I pretty much ended up with two plants as the mother plant tried to fill the pot to the edges and the center died off over time. I also seem to get fewer blooms until the fit tightens some. Making the pot shallower by adding inert materials helps the mix dry out faster but doesn't really address the space issue.

I'd still use that pot but maybe throw some EpiWeb chunks down in the bottom. It's an inert material and will also allow lots of airflow to the bottom of the pot. If the roots grow down into it they won't stay wet.

I really agree! The clear pot will help in the long run because it allows you to monitor moisture (as I said before.) The epiweb chuncks or styrofoam peanuts are both good ideas to take up space in bottom of pot.
