Hey,
I just purchased a good sized P. Taipei Gold x Amboinensis. I got it at wal-mart for only $7 It was on sale because the flower spike on it had just dropped its flowers. I saw that it had good roots and what I think may be two new spikes. I was wandering if I could get some help identifying whether these two new green notches are roots or spikes. Thanks guys.
Hey there CoJack those look like new roots to me but the last photo hmmm could be a new spike cause its located in the center of that leaf. When it comes out further and looks like a mitten its a spike otherwise its a root.
Thx for the replies...I am going on a 4 day vacation monday, so maybe by time i get back they will have grown a bit more. I will see how much they grow and put up some new pics.
The last pic is a side view of the bottom green thing. the top looks basically identical from the side as the bottom one, i just could not get a close up image of it without the zoom being blurry.
I dont think those two are roots, the last pic seems a lot more like litte beginnings of spikes to me. A bit small yet, but my are that ist not roots.
They are definately nubbins right now, whatever they will become
Edit to say i have two exetly like on two of my phals as well, but they have just been sitting there, doing nothing for months... Probably due to a re-pot, but id sure like it if something happend soon!
