Hi Ed

I checked Orchidwiz and do not see Phal Liodoro listed. It must be a non-registered plant so it's parentage is unavailable.

We'd love to see a pic...and hear more about any other chids you have

if you need help with anything, let us know

Phal Liodoro does exist - Phalaenopsis Liodoro - Orchids of The World
I remember this one from a while back .. (don't ask me how ) Let me check out past threads ...
I would treat it like any other Phal ..

Sue - It may not be recognized or registered with the RHS ..??
I found this -
"Phal. Phalaenopsis Liodoro parents Phal. Deventeriana x P. violacea"
from Translated version of http://www.dieorchideenecke.de/html/liodoro.html
and
Bayer Garden

Dorothy;
Thankyou all again for all the replys and the info.My only other concern was that I had read somewhere that the care of the Violacea and its siblings was different from the other phals,ie to be kept moist at all times?

I have 3 violacea crosses .. and I don't treat them any different than my other phal hybrids and they are happy and healthy
Our growing conditions maybe very different also .. I grow mine indoors in a western exposure window away from any direct sunrays ... I keep a fan blowing on them in the summer as temps can go as high as 90°F .. humidity in the summer is greater than in the winter so they stay a bit moister this time of the year .. I water or fertilize at least once a week .. but check on those days where the temps climb high over a period of time. Mine are in medium grade bark with a bit of sphag moss on top to provide some moisture to the aerials ..

The links I posted do discuss what others provide for their Liodoro ..

Do you know where your daughter picked up this Phal .. I have admired it for a long time

There does seem to be some controversy over the Liodoro name - check out this conversation - Phal. Liodoro - Mombu the Orchids Forum
As Phal. Deventeriana x P. violacea = Phal Sweet Memory - see here - Phalaenopsis Sweet Memory

Will orchid confusion ever end ?
