Mtdm. Bartley Schwartz.'Highland' new roots turn brown

I got this orchid about a year ago and I can't find much information about it. It seems fine and new leaves have grown. But, it seems like every two weeks or so the roots on top turn brown and new roots start growing. Is this normal? Am I over or under watering? I have attached a photo that shows the new greenish white roots with the brown older roots underneath.

Sorry, I cant help much, The same thing happens to me with some of my oncidium and intergenerics. If you grow inside its mostlikely due to low humidity, try letting the plant dry out between waterings just to make sure its not a watering problem. I really dont knoow why some plants do this but it happens, dont give up yet.
