Suspected virus, black spots and streaks on orchid leaves.
I believe I have a virus on some of my orchids. They have black streaks and spots on the leaves. They are getting new growth and otherwise appear fine. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Maria102

Can you help with pictures? Or, at least a description of the plant? It's hard to say from your description, but mostly viruses are a plague of the flowers.

I would be removing all those leaves and drenching the entire thing in Listerine with my fingers crossed

Thanks for the Listerine tip, I have already cut off all the infected leaves. I am going to change all the medium as well and scrub the pots. Anything else anyone can think of, I would appreciate your help.

I really don't know what that is, but I have seen a similar type of spotting/streaking on plants and orchids in Florida. I agree with having removed the bad bulbs and using the listerine. You also might want to treat the cut areas with cinnamon to prevent anything infecting the cut. Additionally, I would suggest getting some sort of fungicide/viruscide and using that to treat all the plants (even if they do not appear infected) and the area in which they grow. I would then incorporate it as part of a preventative maintenance to prevent from new outbreaks in the future. Many members on this board recommend Physan 20 however I have yet to use it (but have some on order). Good luck and keep us posted about your 'chids.
