Fertilizer $$$
Wow! I just reordered fertilizer from the manufacturer, and was amazed at how much the price has increased! With shipping to my warehouse, my cost on a 25# bag is greater than the selling price I had on the bags from the last order!
When I asked about the tremendous jump, it was explained that the Chinese haves placed a 130% tariff on some of the raw materials. My real job is in the chemical industry, and I have experienced similar actions in the past - offer low prices that result in local manufacturers ceasing operations, then jack up the price.
On a positive note, even with the price increase, a 125 ppm N solution is still just a shade over $0.03 per gallon.
