Ecstatic!! that's what I am!!!
Ohhhhh, I am a happy camper. My orchids have been so abused and beaten that I'm surprised they're still alive, let alone flourishing. I haven't posted for weeks and weeks cause we have gone from Florida to Illinois, Illinois to Michigan, Michigan back to Illinois, Illinois to Wyoming, Wyoming to Illinois and Illinois to Michigan - again - where we still are. I took my babies outside whenever the weather would cooperate, otherwise they survived swinging (vandas) and sitting (dends, phals, Wilsonara) on bathtub floor. While in the Black Hills, they all blew on the ground, stand and all, (while we were out sightseeing) and thankfully a nice maintenance fella picked them all up (some out in the middle of the road) and tied the stand to a tree. And, thanks to storms and wind in Wyoming, they blew over more than once.
We've been in Michigan for several weeks now and lo and behold!!! The dend is growing a new leaf sheath (is that what you call it?), one phal has two new flower spikes growing out of an old spike, one vanda has a new flower spike, another phal has a flower spike. I cannot believe they are flourishing!!!
I am just soooooo happy. Hope they all survive on our trip back to Illinois via Elkhart, Indiana next week. When we get back to IL, we're gonna SIT still for awhile.
Even though they have been severely mistreated, they, indeed, are tough babies.

Way to go Nita, that's dedication for you. Your 'chids must've realised how much you care by taking them along and have rewarded you with spikes and growth.

Lordy Nita, I'm tired just reading of your travels! The 'chids must like the 'open road'. Glad they are showing their enthusiasm by flowering for you.

Thanks!! Yup, I guess they know I love them despite my roughshod treatment.

Hey wait a minute Rolando - if you belong to the Eastern Airlines Orchid Society, sounds to me like you've done a whole lot more traveling than most of us! Sure, if you can fit in a pot, you can come along, but remember, it's gonna be a rough ride and sometimes rough landings!!!

Well, it hasn't hurt them, that's for sure. But then again, at least lately, it's been pretty hot and humid. But today they get moved again - going to Elkhart, IN for work on motorhome and then back to IL by Wednesday, we hope.
