That is very impressive that they have flourished so well for you!! I would never have imagined...but lately, I've been amazed by my orchids as well, who have been putting forth a valiant attempt at life when I accidentally almost killed them (left them in my living room for too many weeks while they were in bloom) and now they are trying to hold on, sprouting new roots, its just amazing!! How can people say orchids are hard to grow, when in reality they really, really just want to live! Its amazing

Nice to hear from you! I was wondering how your travels were going!
So long as they are not Gypsy Moths, we're in fine shape. LOL - I just noticed your post today (July 30th). We're finally back on our lot in Illinois and I'm probably going to waste most of the day reading e-mail. No more traveling in motorhome until late September and then it's back to Michigan again to work on youngest daughter's house. It's another ugly, humid day in northern Illinois and I hope my chids are loving it - I'm not.

Ross - I wouldn't normally do dendros or large floofy orchids either (although I guess you would call phals floofy, wouldn't you?) But one of the few times I attended an orchid society meeting in Florida, I won the dendrobium. And, of course, I couldn't give it to someone else or throw it away, so I keep carrying the top heavy, gangly thing around. I AM glad it's putting out a new leaf stalk, maybe it will bloom again. I read your blog and looked at your tank pictures. Holy COW! that seems like entirely tooooo much work in my book, but they sure don't take up much room which is a good thing. I want whatever orchids I grow to survive in either normal house temps or outside temps wherever that might be. Carrying an aquariam around does not appeal to me at all. Sometimes we don't have electrical hookups, so running the fans and lights would be an impossible task. Guess I'll stick to the big "floofy" ones.
