I have finally got my very own first re-growth of my Phalaenopsis. It started to produce flowers and then I noticed that last buds are starting to dry up and wither. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Please see attached photos (I hope I attached them correctly!!) Thanks for your help.
You probably did not do anything wrong could be the plant wants to go into a leaf root growth cycle ..tired of blooming . next bloom cycle will be even better.. Gin
Karin, looks like your buds blasted. Sudden change in temp, ripening fruit nearby...either of these could cause bud drop. IMHO
Lecent
Ethylene gas is seriously brutal. Be careful of bananas which have emit a lot of ethylene gas. I learned my lesson the hard way I guess no banana bread for me
Thanks for the info! I have been leaving the window open - for cool fresh air but my orchid is right in front f the window and it is quite drafty at night so that might be my problem. I also have apples and other fruit in a bowl near the plant so that might be my other problem. I will remedy these and start misting the leaves for more humidity and hopefully it won't happen to the rest of the buds.
Thanks again to all of you!
