My first orchid
I bought my first Phal (a lovely pink NOID) on June 23, 2007. It has been blooming beautifully ever since. I had flowers all through the winter and spring and now the summer. Is this normal?
I have several more small Phals and a new one in bloom, but I really love that first one.

A strong, mature plant, given the proper conditions and treatment, can stay in bloom almost continually. You're apparently doing things right!
There will come a point when it runs out of energy, but enjoy it until then.

Eileen I've got my fair share of NOIDs in my collection but that doesn't make them less beautiful or desirable. I love them all.

Sorry Roly...I somehow lost a few words..."upon close"...examination, there remains a tiny piece still "growing out of the node..I only broke off the tip..though the largest section....I assume that piece "WILL..." makes it easier with the whole message...thanks Eileen

Emma,
I also have a fairly large P. Yu Pin Panda its been in bloom for about 6 months now and it still seems to be going strong. I have had people tell me I should cut the shoots because its not healthy to have them bloom that long. It sure looks happy to me so I am going to just see what happens it seems like the natural thing to do. Let nature take its course.
