Default New additions to my Orchid family

So I just went to Lowe's, and I felt sorry for two little Cattleyas. They were put up on a shelf without any light or TLC. So I had to save them.

I got them home, and took them out of the packaging. They're planted ina 2'' pot, and junky medium. I plan on repotting as soon as I get the right sized pot (which I've read should be either 3'' or 4'' in size. Any reccommendations?) The pseudobulbs were all dry and shriveled. I know that there's no quick fix to get the pbulbs back in shape, but is there any advice that you would give me?

Other than the pbulbs being wrinkled, they look good. The leaves are a little dark IMO, but they're healthy and plump. I was assuming that the dark leaves were due to the storage conditions in Lowe's.

The two catts are Lc. Melody Fair "Carol", and Blc. Williette Wong "The Best". I'll take some pictures and post them when the batteries for my camera charge.

Congratulation on your new purchases. I went to HD today and was tempted to get C. Hawaiian Wedding Song and Onc. Sharry Baby but had to contain myself but if they are still there this Friday they are goners...I have gotten some pretty nice and healthy looking plants from my local HD it all depends on the timing. Enjoy your new chids !!!

Mothlover, Good on you for trying to save some plants. I suggest that you be careful about pot size. Most orchids do best when they're a little pot bound so check the size of the rootball and if the roots are not good, keep it in the same size pot for a while with the new medium or maybe go up not more than an inch. Also giving it bareroot soak with some KLN and/or Superthrive
could help it get going again. Good luck!

Well, I said I would post pictures, so here they are.
Here they are together

The next two are of Lc. Melody Fair "Carol"

And this is Blc. Williette Wong "The Best"

I tried to take pictures of the pbulbs for each of them, I couldn't really get the camera to focus. But you can kind of see them in the pics. I know that I need to repot them, I have the bark soaking as I type. Would a meduim sized bark be too large for these little guys?

these guys are large enough to take medium size bark. The Williette Wong is one of the best yellow Cattleya today, very beautiful flower. Congratulation on your rescue. I got an Alma Kee 'Tip Malee' at HD, lol, I wished that it was a Williette Wong.

Thankyou very much. I didn't know what a bargain I found I guess. Hopefully I'll be able to get it to bloom for me in the future.
