I have noticed when my orchids are growing, the p. bulbs are fat and IMHO healthy looking. When they put forth their buds, the p. bulbs still look decent, but as the blossom opens and ages, the bulbs start to shrivel a little. In the photos of orchids in their native habitats (ie not my greenhouse), the plants look rough, but their flowers are stunning. Is this "shrivel-age" normal or is it reflective of my standard of care (which tends to be in the benign neglect category...)? Thanks for the input. I always learn something from my posts on OB.
