Repot your chids, making sure you treat them for pets and disease prior to putting them into their new home. When I'm repotting, whether there's a problem or not, I remove all old media and rinse the whole plant. Then I spray the entire plant (while it's still bare root) with Listerine, let it sit 2-3 minutes and rinse it well again, then repot. It may or may not work, but it gives me peace of mind

At least the plant will have fresh breath

I know it could have been something worse, but the idea of any kind of creepy crawlers in my orchids, possibly laying eggs and spreading through my collection, does not make me feel lucky in any way. It's yet another thing to worry about and keep an eye on. Two of my Sharry Baby orchids now have black holes on their bulbs from these worms.

Roly I havent gotten to doing it yet, will do so later this afternoon!!
I disagree Gin, when you buy plants from a reputable vendor you should not expect infestations or insects of any sort. These sellers understand that these insects can not only damage a single plant but can easily transfer to other plants causing them harm as well.
I can understand that insects are not sent out intentionally but happens, but I certainly do not feel lucky.
Yes it could be worse, but thats not what I paid money for .
Obviously I have no choice but to repot, and can only hope that this problem will end here.
Adlemsi I hope thats where your problems end, hopefully they'll grow some new bulbs and things will be better...

troubles with online chid purchase
Hi Cookiemonster, what bad luck!
I'm new to the forum and everyone else has great ideas about repair suggestions, but I DO have lots of experience on eBay. If that's where you purchased your chid, taking the easy approach at first is always best. Send photos, explain the situation and question whether the seller will give a refund--and whether you should send the plant back, and of course specify that the seller should pay the shipping. The bigger problem is how your other plants may be affected.
Hold your fire! Most sellers are reputable, but if on eBay (or another organized site), this seller will be seriously concerned about the possibility of getting a neg feedback from you, and may be more accommodating than you expect.

The seller I bought my Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' compot was really undertsanding. They gave me full refund. They checked other compots that were on the same shelf as the one shipped to me but they didn't find worms in them. Just one of those strokes of bad luck, I guess. I will still buy from them in the future because they had good customer service and I haven't had problems with other orchids I've bought from them.

Well I contacted the seller as I mentioned earlier with my dissatisfaction with the insect problem and I was refunded for the plant with the insects. I think they are genuinely honest sellers who well- had something go wrong, I would probably order from them in the future if its bare-root.
I think the most important thing for an orchid vendor is to recognize the value of quality customer service- even if they make a mistake its reassuring to know they'll take responsibility for it and keep you interested in coming back in the future
