cattleya orchid - losing leaves
Default cattleya orchid - losing leaves

It appears that my cat's leaves are rotting off. they are turning purple at the tips and then within a day or two they are all purple and fall off... i only water once a week when the soil is dry.. and it looks like 6 of 9 of the stems have rotted - which i guess is causing the leaves to rot off...
any solutions to fix this?

Absolutely, pics are helpful. Without the pics, I'd guess bacterial or fungal if it is progressing that fast. Remove anything that looks nasty and go online and buy some Physan 20 or RD-20 and spray plants, pots, media....everything!

Pictures would be very helpful for us to see whats going wrong for you.

If the problem is an internal rot infection, it can already be spread throughout the plant with parts not showing symptoms yet. Aggressive pruning and spraying with a systemic bacteria/fungicide would be my course of action.

How dry is dry before you are watering again? You don't want the psuedobulbs to be shrivelling. What type of media your are growing in.
