Hi all
I just transplanted an Oncidium a couple of weeks ago and the leaves are turning pale yellow then brown and finally falling off. Could this be transplant shock ? The plant has always done well and there are 4 to 5 bulbs per pot. The only thing that is different is that I put them in a slightly shadier spot ( still on the window sill but now behind a sheer curtain )
Hopeing someone can help me out!
eek! i have no idea, i have only 2 oncs and neither of them did that when i transplanted them. I hope somebody with more experience will pipe in. good luck!
Are the leaves older back-bulb leaves (including the outer "sheath-like leaves")? Or on any of the newer pseudobulbs? If they are the older ones, then the shock may have instigated the drop, but it was bound to happen anyways. Oncidium class orchids and the intergenetics like Beallara, etc. tend to keep a couple years worth of leaves and drop older ones as the new bulbs develop. So perhaps this is natural. They can tolerate up to full sun, so maybe the curtain isn't needed? But it would not cause the leaf drop - it would cause dark green leaves. Hope some of this helps.
