Default Picture of New Phal

I read on the board a few members have praised Whole Foods orchids so I went to my local WF to check it out. They had a stand of 'Organic Orchids' and I found one I really like.

I bought it due to the healthy root that was emerging from the top. It also has buds on both stakes that are not in bloom yet. Eventually I am giong to buy online but trying to get the basics down before I venture into big cost.

I noticed it is in a cup...there is no internal plastic container...and no drainage holes (I thought that was a big no no). It also has a thin layer of green moss on the top surface. Should I leave it as is during its bloom or does it need to be repotted immediately?

Also, could it be a mini? It is in a 3" container and looks so tiny. Unless they all start out that way. Either way...if you like Phals...I hope you enjoy the pics!

Thanks!

cyberbrat

I love your new little phal! It is just way too cute! I'm not sure about this but it looks like a mini to me. The leaves look pretty short, not like a regular sized one.

I personally would repot it since it's not in a pot that drains. Who knows how long it has been in it. I always repot as soon as I get a new orchid regardless if it's bloom or spike. I've never lost a bloom but I'm also pretty careful. Just my .

Thanks Sarah for the advice, I will give it a try. It seemed that no drainage could be a really bad thing!

Replant. That poor thing is not long for this world in a pot without drainage.
