Default turning yellow

My dend. " Jungle Monarch" has some newer lower leaves turning yellow. I water once a week, and since the plant is in the original pot and mix, I haven't fed it at all. It has finished blooming, and the plant still looks healthy. It recieves filtered sun in a southern exposure, and it is in my kitchen which is quite humid. Any suggestions? I would hate to lose it. The other dend is doing quite well. New flower stalk and it looks like a new plant forming.

Cherlon if this is a recent onset ... depending on the type or group most are pendulous, with leaves all along the canes that most often drop with onset of cooler, drier weather. This would be my quess without a

Dendrobiums are devil plants that like to die for no good reason.

Is my plant dying? Yellowing of the lower leaves(new growth). See earlier thread for details.

That's not a Dendobium, looks like an Oncidium type. Looks healthy to me, it's normal for those lower leaves to die off

Edit: I just looked it up, it's a Colmonara Jungle Monarch, which is an Oncidium alliance intergeneric hybrid.

WTG Tony, nice one, thought it was an Oncidium but not sure type...nice research. The plant does look very healthy, would not worry a bit about the little leaf. I don't usually pull them off, let them die back on there own...nice growing cherlon

Default thank you

Thanks for properly idebtifying my oncidium prchid. It was nismarked at the store. It seems to be doing ok. Is there any difference in the care of this particular species compared to the dend.? I am planning on getting more of these soon, and I need to know if the growing conditions are similar. My african violets are growing together with the orchids and they are great friends.

I was in one of the big box stores the other day and all the orchids were wearing dendrobium tags.Happy Hawaiian, I think. I thought it a shame for new people like myself, who may or may not know the difference.Luckily I did. Bought 2 phals and an oncidium that were tagged as dends. Beautiful happy plants, but newbies beware. Gladys

I bought mine at wal-mart. They have a good selection of plants, and very reasonably priced, too.
