The most I have spent is $100 on a black ruby phalaenopsis. I almost killed it but now its back to a size of a seedling

Maybe its a specimin plant. May be extremely huge and offering fabulous propagation as well as being a fabulous flower. I have seen specimin plants here sell for over $1000.

Yes, but you have to remember those are Canadian dollars, not US dollars, so when you do the conversion, it actually only costs $50. so it's a value.

Oh, such barbs Scott! Give us another couple of years and our dollar will be worth more than yours! It certainly was in the 60's!

Meanwhile, I look at the flower on that Cymbidium and think...does this have a virus or something? Those irregular white markings look almost virus-like to my mind.

I've read of Hepaticas in Japan selling for $20,000 US (that must be close to a million Canadian according to Scott's math )...they must have money to burn!
