Good job! Don't give up on the mother plant yet! I have a total of 4 plants growing on a central rhizome-like stalk. They overlap like your plant so it is hard to tell which one came first and which are the keikis. They are all very large now and all are continuing to send out bloom spikes and new leaves. They only time I have noticed that they stop making new leaves is when they send a keiki off on a spike (mine didn't do this). The basal keikis are great for making a big show size plant. They are identical so when they send out bloom spikes (and they did it simultaneoulsy on my plant) you get twice as many spikes (in my case 4 times as many!) Here are pics of my unpotted plant. As you can see they are attached to the rhisome and had huge amount of very nice roots. I just trimmed them up and repotted like you did. The plant had started blooming before this repotting but I didn't trim the spike. It continued blooming and sending out spikes and ended up with about 60 flowers! I found the original tag from the nursery when I repotted. It was from 2000 so this plant is about 10 years old. Here are pic of before, during and after repotting.

You did a really good job Lene. Now it's just watch and wait. I think it will turn out to be an exceptional phal. in a few years. At least you have given it the chance it needed.

Thanks, but I can't take credit for it's size. It was already 4 plants when I inherited it. I think it was surviving on it's own for a couple years. As a matter of fact, I almost killed it with kindness. After I repotted it the first time is when it started wilting so bad. That was how I was able to give my 2 cents on the subject.
Monster Phal is doing great now. It finally finished blooming. I am really looking foward to the next blooming. It should be even better!

i personnally would not repot, cause the medium looks ok through the clear pot
i would soak it for 30 mins or so in fertilizer and root stimulator.
after that put it in a big clear plastic bag to keep up humidity. open the bag once or twice a day for air exchance.
i,ll bet that after a week or 2; the phal will look a whole lot better.

All these "monster" phals are impressive!! Looks like we never should give up any phal, as they turn out to be tremendous plants in the end....
How is the plant doing Lene?

See for you self
Its already got firmer leafs, even the mother-phal leafs seems a lot better. I do belive it actually can pull thru. But i still dont know if the motherphal can grow new leafs, the crown seems a bit weird... But the basal keiki seems fine, and i do hope the keikis on the steem will grow to be ready to have their own pots...
Time will tell, i guess!
