Zygonisia or Zns. Cynosure 'Blue Birds' advice? Female
Question Zygonisia or Zns. Cynosure 'Blue Birds' advice?

Hello! I'm new here and one of my collection is a Zns. Cynosure 'Blue Birds'. I received it as a gift. The last flower just came off today and I have no information about this type of orchid at all. Does anyone know if I should cut the spike back? Or have any general information about them at all?

Here is an image of it. I hope it's not too big. I was reading your threads about images and I don't really understand how to do thumbnails. Sorry!

Well,I purchased the same plant for myself because I couldn't resist the flowers. The flowers lasted about 6 weeks. I cut off the stem when it turned brown.
I read quite a few bits and pieces of information on the Internet, and found it to be a cross between Aganisia and Zygopetalum. It wants medium light, intermediate temperature and wants to be kept slightly damp. Never dry.
It is a vigorous grower and the flowers are lightly fragrant. The bloom season varies. Repot every 2-3 years between February and June.
I hope it performs well for you,as it certainly is a beauty!

Nancy
