New Orchid Owner HELP!! Female
Exclamation New Orchid Owner HELP!!

I am a college student with a limited income and the proud new owner of an Odontoglossum Margarete Holm Larkspur.

I want accurate helpful information on what kind of soil, fertilizer, food, watering, light, and care she will need.

I live in a hot, humid climate and I understand this is not ideal for odontoglossums.

What do I need to do and how often?
What is the most affordable way to provide care and food ?
How deep and wide does the pot need to be, and how much soil does she need?
Completely clueless...
HELP ASAP

Hi and welcome to the OB. I don't grow any of these but my book tells me that they like it cool and humid with lots of air movement. 50 - 80 degrees with 70% humidity. As far as fertilizing they need no rest period so you can fert. as recommended by your fert label. The perferred mixes include sphagnum moss blends and medium grade fir bark. I'm sure someone with experience will help more. Good luck

Welcome to the OB! :
Is your new baby already in a pot? As to potting "soil" I don't think it would like soil, I'm pretty sure it would like a medium that would allow for air movement. But I'll let someone else chime in that has more experience with this 'chid.
