Superthrive question

Does anyone now how long a bottle of Superthrive lasts? I have one and I'm wondering if it's still good. It's about a year old.

Hi! I cannot answer your question since i have only started using Superthrive myself.

I would like to know how has Superthrive improved your orchids.
Does it really work?
How long did it take for you to see results? What results did you get? How do you use it?

1/4 tsp. per gallon. Yes, it works to promote root growth. When bringing home new orchids, a soak with ST added, helps establish new root growth in their new pots. Great for stressed orchids as well but not something you want to use with every watering.

Sorry, don't know if there's an expiration with this product. I'd be curious too, although I'm a regular user of this and have never had a bottle go unused for more than a year, if that long.

Mutation if it gets too old? or in general? Might not be a bad thing.. maybe you'll get a new variation

Never heard that one cullenperry, but have been using it for just over a year with great results. I use 2 capfuls per 2.5 gallons of water along with Jacks fert. I do have to say I don't use bark as a medium for my orchids which does hold its fert and ST inert ingredients. Using aliflor as my choice of medium it does not soak into it's factor as orchid bark does.

When repotting I use ST as a rooting stimulant and my orchids show less signs of stress after placing them in there new home enviroment.

The first bottle of ST I got was from a friend who used it religiously and by looking at the bottle lid, it appeared to have been aged, no issues no problems just great changes urging me to purchase a new and larger bottle. Nope no born on date that I could see.

2 caps per 2.5 gallons!? I've always heard it should be used by drops per gallons!! something like KLN (which, by the way, can also induce mutations and flowers deformations if used in case concentrations)

Rooting hormones are very powerful, andt I have first-hand experience that overdoing it will lead to deformation in phalaenopsis flowers (I cannot address other genera). There is anecdotal evidence that overdoing it can lead to stunted vegetative growth, too. A few drops per gallon should be the upper limit for regular use.

As to how long does it last on the shelf, that depends upon the light level (you'll note the hormone preparations come in opaque containers) and temperature. Kept cold and dark (i.e., refrigerated), they are good for about a couple of years. At room temperature, more like a matter of months. If the bottle is exposed to sunlight (warming it), days.

Nah superthrive takes a long time to go bad, the only time I have seen it questionable was after someone left a bottle unsealed (poorly capped) for a prolonged amount of time and it got really dark and almost opaque
