I think this is what some members call a "nubbin." Basically it's unidentified growth...I'd wait a few weeks to see what happens.
In the second pic you have a nice new cane growing there. Yay! Are those clovers growing in there? lol Not sure if what the hybrid name is tho...where did you get this orchid? If its' from a big box store, it might not be a sirin stripe...usually the tags get all jumbled up at large stores.

Zlessley - you aren't taking up space, if fact you did a wise thing posting here as it will bring you more exposure to your question.

No, they're not clover (I wish they were) they're just little seedlings that come up every time I water it (this mixture is VERY well draining but holds moisture that I only have to water it once a month or so) I got the orchid from a local nursery, they're more of a flowershop though. They throw all of the orchids that aren't really doing anything in the sick bay! and sell them for cheap because of that! This is a big old plant and I got it for about 40 dollars (was originally 60-70)
