Maybe not enough light or temperature drop? Where do you grow your phal? What is it potted in? Do you have any pictures of the plant's leaves and growing material/roots? We'll try to find out!
Was the plant in bloom at any time before you got it? If it's a young plant, maybe it's just not ready.
I think temperature drop is one of the biggest spike initiators. You need at least a 10 degree difference between day and night time temps in the fall and winter. Of course that's presuming the plant is healthy and happy. Do let us know how you're taking care of it. How often does it get fed and watered? When was the last time it was repotted? How much light is it getting? Are you growing in the house or outside, or greenhouse? Stuff like that.
when i got it it was potted in something (top looked like bark, bottom looked like soil)i repotted it in a medium grade bark mix. also i think it was not getting enough light. since i repotted it i have noticed a new leaf coming out.
I agree with Terri. I think the important thing for phals is to give them some quite cool nights in the fall for a week or so (about October). Some people even put them in the fridge! After that time period some bloom booster fertilizer and they should be spiking in the spring.
