Most of the windows in my neck of the woods (SW Florida coast) are tinted to keep homes cooler. does anyone know the percentage of light they block?
Also a friend gave me 2 light set ups that use two 48' 40 watt Agro Brite lights in each. Can I substitute T 8's or T5s...or won't they fit? Thank you for your help.

Reason: spacey today....
I'm sure the tint varies all over the map, probably ranging from 30% to 50%, possibly greater. You must also understand that - depending upon the material used - the reduction might not be uniform across the spectrum.
Unfortunately, there are too many unknown variables to give you an accurate answer. Without knowing what type of tint was used, if it is application specific ( full spectrum, uvblock, etc. ) Nowadays, you can get tint that is for blocking vision, but blocks zero percent light. if an average home window tint was used, you're liikin at 30%light and about 45%UV

I should have said, you can get 2 and 4 tube t8 fixtures from Home depot pretty cheap. I would recommend t5, but they are much more expensive. The 4-tube t8 will work just fine but you need to set the lights closer to the plants.
