Quick question about fertilization lingo

Greetings everyone,

I just have a brief question about fertilization.

I often see folks comment that fertilization should be used at 1/2 or 1/4 proportion of reccommended amounts.

Is this generally understood to mean 1/2 or 1/4 of regular fertilizers meant for houseplants, or 1/2 or 1/4 of fertilizers meant for orchids.

In other words, are orchid fertilizers already formulated at reduced concentrations relative to other general fertilizers, or should they be further diluted?
