*snicker snicker snicker*

P.S. I like your green wall! And that's an excellent idea that I may well need to implement shortly, very shortly.

Hi Vicky, welcome!
I love your list! Almost time to knock down a wall and put in a sunroom, huh? We built one a few years back and solved the orchid space problem....for about two months.
I love the grow lights in the bedroom idea. Romantic huh? Mind if I use that line? Great idea.
Painting the walls green, huh? Cool! I have so much to learn from all of you.

anyways, this is my first cym, so I would love to know how you grow that one, and how you get yours to bloom!
also, how do you like the sanderara?

Thanks so much and welcome!!
Yes, they came from Clouds. I *adore* Clouds. It is positively unhealthy how often I go to their website.

My Cymbids are actually growing in the basement. I have a south-facing window in the unheated basement. As I live in Newfoundland, near the coast, my humidity levels are relatively high, too, so the Cymbids are happy little campers down there.

The Sanderara is a relative newcomer to my collection, but seems to be happy temperature and humidity-wise amongst the Oncidiums, but I've propped it up closer to the window and the lights. We'll see how it goes.

If you just ordered your Cymbid from Clouds, be prepared for a fair-sized plant! The last one I ordered was large!

Cheers!
Vicky

Damn! Based upon this thread's title, I was hoping to see some hot, naked chick in a pool covered in blossoms!

We're actually building an unheated one at present, so I may move the dendrobiums out there for the summer (with shade cloth). I do worry about pests, though. Does anyone who summers their plants outside have experience with getting rid of nasties before bringing plants back into the house in the fall?

One of these days we're going to finish the basement and there will be a sunroom there with big south and east-facing windows and more growing space.

Until then, I'd better start investing in grow lights!

Cheers!
Vicky

Or something close to one, at any rate. So far my marriage is intact. Luckily I married a man who thinks grow lights in the bedroom are romantic.

Holy Smokes!!! I counted 55 on your list and you've got 4 more on the way! Boy, you've got a whole lot more nerve than I do. Can't imagine having that many plants growing in my house - unless I had a basement I could put them in. Good for you. Am glad your hubby doesn't seem to mind the grow lights.
I'm fairly new to the orchid world (but this is my second time around) and I probably only have 9 now. 3 vandas, one oncidium and 5 phals. I just rescued 2 phals from the local Lowe's yesterday. At $4 each, I couldn't resist. Blossoms all gone, so have no idea what color they are. But I figure it's nice to be surprised. However, I move from Florida to Illinois on a 6 month basis, so trying to carry 55 orchids would be a BIG problem for me.

Welcome to the world of the addicted.

You're assuming I only have one of each.

Oh I don't know. If you got into the compact varieties, you could do it. In fact, with plants like leptotes, some of the aeranges, dendrobium compactum and the likes, you could probably fit 55 plants in a medium-sized suitcase.

Where there's a will....
