I would keep it just from getting direct rays .. remember they thrive in bright light .. direct rays will burn them .. You just have to find a place where it is the most happy
I have some phals growing in a west window also. They are doing extremely well BUT I am home to lower the mini blinds in the afternoon when the sun directly hits the plants. I leave the blinds in the 'open' position so the plants are getting filtered bright sun.
